Confirmthem May Soon Get Another Lease on Life --- Or Not

Well, depending upon what happens on Tuesday, it appears that confirmthem may be going into some very deep hibernation pretty soon. There’s an outside chance that that will not happen, but I wouldn’t be placing any heavy bets at this point. MAKE SURE YOU VOTE ON TUESDAY!

UPDATE: As of Sunday night, this poll has only a two-point spread.

UPDATE #2: As of Tuesday, this poll has less than a two-point spread.

I have been very disappointed in Obama’s campaign, and am even more disappointed about what an Obama administration would likely do to this country and the judiciary. It would be wonderful to have someone of his ethnicity as president, but that is no reason to vote for him. And having a female Veep would be wonderful too! I feel like Obama and his allies have treated the voters like mushrooms: keeping us in the dark and feeding us manure. In contrast, John McCain has run a mostly valiant campaign, and perhaps it might yet prevail.

One of Obama’s biggest allies --- the Los Angeles Times --- will not even release a transcript of Obama remarks that it has on videotape. If you don’t think you’re being treated like a mushroom, just listen to prominent Democrat Pat Caddell who said the following on Friday:

Let's assume for a moment that they claim that they had an agreement in their source not to release the tape. Why not the transcript? …. I'm just saying why not release the transcript…. Well, the point is why don't you just release the transcript? That's — that would be the end of this…. If somebody gives you a tape and it allows to you write a story on it you have the right to run the transcript. That's all I'm saying, the — the issue here is journalism and it's the right of the people to know.

And the following video illustrates another outrageous reason why the Obama campaign may win the election and put this website out of business, by its secret and illegal fundraising shenanigans.

And Michael Patrick Leahy explains yet another way that Obama has been treating us all like mushrooms (Obama ought to release his original long-form birth certificate just like McCain has done). Grrr. [Obama was a trans-oceanic traveller during the month he was born, and Hawaii newspaper notices of his birth were automatically printed whenever a parent requested a birth certificate, but here is very compelling proof that he was born in Hawaii. ---AH, 3/1/2009.]

Future plans by BoBo

You bring up an interesting point in your post:

What happens to ConfirmThem.com if Obama wins next Tuesday? I don't want Obama to win, I hope he doesn't win, but what if? I hope ConfirmThem stays online at least until he is sworn in on January 20, 2009. Specifically, I want to see if there will be any more Bush judicial nominees confirmed during the upcoming lame-duck session of the 110th Congress. I also want to see if Bush recess-appoints anyone in December or January contrary to Reid and his pro forma sessions.

In addition, I think there needs to be somewhere online where Obama's judicial nominees are objectively analyzed. They won't be in the liberal MSM. Conservatives need a forum in which the flaws of Obama's judicial picks are accurately presented and evaluated.

Are you volunteering? Anyway, let's cross the bridge if and when we get to it.

If Obama wins, by Classic

should the name be changed to "ConfirmThemnot.com"? Or would that be hypocrital. Perhaps hibernation would be best, though I'd deeply miss the information and bon ami of the site, as we educate and commiserate about the latest nominations....

Keep it by skippy1

The 'move on' site (developed to encourage people to 'move on' after the Monica issue) kept their name.

Even after (I fear) Obama gets elected, and nominates liberal judges, I will still be for at least giving his nominees an up or down vote - but only after the Democrats agree to some fundamental changes such as changing the rules to prevent further fillibustering of nominees, requiring an up-or-down vote within a certain time frame after the nomination is sent to the Senate, and also some type of compensation (such as 4 of Bush's nominees confirmed).

I guess we could change the name to 'use the same rules until we mutually agree to confirmthem'

Depressing by BillM

Depressing. It really is. If the worst happens, I hope the site can stay up, tho it's gonna be a pretty thankless job.

And, ITWH, I hope the GOP doesn't get obsessed with ACORN conspiracies & demonizing Obama on a personal level, however deserved it might be. The Dems did the same thing with W & Bush v Gore and it killed them in '02 & '04.

There is a lot to learn from the mistakes McCain has made, and the things Obama has done correctly. What worked from '80 to '04 is no longer enough. There is a bitter irony to McCain somewhat getting hoisted on his campaign finance "reform" petard, as well as being savagely backstabbed by his MSM buddies.

Well anyway, it's certainly been enjoyable & educational; damn fun for a while, and very aggravating at times too. I hope we can continue in some form regardless.

And of course, had the WH listened to us, all the open Circuit & District seats would've been filled two years ago. ;)

BillM, I sold all my stocks about a week ago, right before the big rally. I thought the Fat Lady had sung.

You are correct. The polls have gone absolutely bonkers the last 48, and this campaign has been like no other, so why shouldn't the result be?

That said, it's a tough map for McCain. My pure objective prediction is 286-252, Barry. I think McCain wins FL, NC, OH, MO, IN, MT, ND & NV, but it's hard for me to see him get VA & NH and something else, unless the polls are wildly skewed or people are doing a LOT of lying to pollsters. VA in particular just kills him; there never should've been those "real Americans" and "real Virginians" comments from his campaign.

That said, hope I'm wrong. Be far from the first (or 1000th) time.

And thanks for your work on this site, regardless.

Thanks for everything by TrueConservative

Thank you for the website, i learned a lot. But tonight is not looking good at all.

Adios, i think the Republican party is done for permanently. Unchecked immigration has been our downfall. I am now a man without a country.

Part of this comment has been deleted. Don't try it again. Thanks. ---Ed.

TrueConservative by StayUpLate

I'm a frequent ConfirmThem commenter who had the misfortune of reading the portion of the comment by you that ConfirmThem's editor since has mercifully deleted. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for encouraging ConfirmThem readers to go to a despicable, racist online forum, where users freely throw around the "n" word. Can we stick to evaluating judges, perchance? Or dealing with the issues debated in the presidential election? Thanks to the editor for deleting that part of TrueConserative's comment. It has no place in this or any forum that I want to be a part of.

Lighten Up, Francis by TrueConservative

Don't worry, opposing gay marriage and supporting other conservative causes will be declared illegal hate speech under Obama too, just like using the dreaded "n" word that so scares people. Banning the 'n' word only leads to more decay of freedom.

read up on South Africa guys, this 1st world nation will soon be 3rd world, flooded with new african immigrants, trillions of our dollars flushed away on foreign aid, criminals being released from prisons so they can 'get a second chance', talk radio being shut down, and whites once and for all being relegated to the ash heap of america, where liberals and neocons have been working to put us for the last 50 years.

Thanks a lot Juan Mccain, the Latinos really came through for you.
