Obama Just Another Liberal on a Leash

In today’s Washington Post, George Will takes Barack Obama to task for being “just another liberal on a leash” when it comes to the nomination of Judge Leslie Southwick. Will had hoped that Obama’s candidacy “might bring down the curtain on the long-running and intensely boring melodrama ‘Forever Selma,’ starring Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.” Instead, Obama pandered to Democratic primary voters by accusing Southwick of the Jackson / Sharpton crowd’s favorite charge – insensitivity to minorities.

Yep, just another typical liberal fool. Unfortunately, they're everywhere.

Returning to the topic of the straw poll, I hope one person who's not currently a candidate is eventually seriously considered for the VP slot: Chris Cox. Most here know his credentials. He would also make for a superb AG, Secretary of State/Treasury/Commerce, etc. Here's hoping....

Nobody would take Obama seriously if he was white.

clearly "leash" is a veiled reference to slavery if not worse!!! :P (sadly, its probably just a matter of hours before an idiotarian blogger makes that claim, if it hasn't happened already).

amusing to see yet another of Obama's problems with numbers. I'd make a joke about Obama exaggerating the number representing the length of a certain something, but that wouldn't be appropriate for this site, so I won't (you can thank me later, Andrew). it is unbelievable that anybody could take this guy seriously as a presidential candidate. what a complete and total buffoon.

Everyone here just needs to sit back and hope the Dems throw out a Hillary/Obama ticket next June. Only thing better would be John "Ya'll are all racists" Edwards.

Whatever the flaws of Bush, Mitt & Rudy, there's gonna be a lot stunned silence from the kos/NYT/Slate/Salon crowd in 15 months. Gore/Richardson is the ticket to fear.

Obama is intelligent, and also a fairly compelling speaker, at least compared to W, Kerry & Hillary. But he's hyper-liberal and completely unqualified for the POTUSy. I knew that declaring would eventually expose him; should only accelerate from here on. Krauthammer, IMO, was dead wrong that running (and losing) now would help Obama down the road. Gonna do just the opposite.

There's a good reason why Mario never ran & why Wesley Clark went down in flames immediately after entering the race. These guys are usually only compelling so long as they're NOT in the race, although Jeb is an obvious exception.

Same deal, in a somewhat different way, with Fred.

"the POTUSy" by Dienekes

brilliant! I'm ROFLing here Bill :P
If Obama could actually call it that, it sounds like something he might be able to make a case that he's qualified for.

I'm not sure there's much to fear from Gore, since he went insane. I agree though that Richardson, despite some recent gaffes I think is still dangerous in the veep slot.

Tommy Thompson for VP? I would think either him or Huckabee, off the top of my head.

Tommy Thompson by Matthew Friendly

I'm afraid Tommy Thompson proved through this process that he is simply not ready for the national stage, whether POTUS or VPOTUS. He would be a disaster, as he was recently running for the POTUS nomination.

I think all of the top-tier Reps, along with Huckabee, would make for excellent VPs. I also very much like Chris Cox, Mark Sanford, Tim Pawlenty, and a few others.

Thompson by BillM

Yea, he gaffed a few things up, I just read. Pity, what with swing state Governor, welfare reform, somewhat credible on health care, etc. Of course, him & Richardson's gaffes would likely cancel each other out.
