Olson for Senate?!?

NRO's The Campaign Spot says that legal superstar Ted Olson, for good reason a favorite of this site, may run for Senate from Virginia. Can you imagine Olson winning and then, dream of dreams, bieng put on the Senate Judiciary Committee? Talk about some intellectual firepower behind the conservative position on judges!

He has little chance to beat Warner. It's a fool's errand. Peter Pace is a much better possibility. Or Lynne (or Elizabeth) Cheney. Olson has a major appointment awaiting him if Rudy wins and no clear power base were he to run. Given his counselor's relationship with Giuliani he might even be a dark horse candidate for Secretary of State.

Who is holding up the process in putting judges on our courts?

Reid- 1 needs senate vote

Leahy - 5 need JC vote

Leahy - 18 need JC hearings

Bush 33 - nominees needed

Leahy has 11 nominees that will have been on his docket for over 6 months by Nov 24. He needs to process all of them by the end of Nov. Give them a hearing, give them a vote even if negative, but get on with it. Its unfair to the country, the president and these nominees to leave them hanging

What is even more disturbing is that by the end of November there will be 20 vacancies that are over 6 months old and have NO nominee. 11 of those are over 1 year old. I hate to say this but the President, not the Dems, is the biggest reason we dont have better judges on our courts. He just plain isnt doing his job.

Leahy is bad, the President is worse and Reid by comparison looks like an angel. At least he is processing those he gets.
