Red State Democrats

I was disappointed to see that 15 of the 18 Democratic senators from red states – states which twice voted for George W. Bush – voted against Mukasey’s confirmation. Sens. Bayh (IN), Landrieu (LA), and Nelson (NE) were the notable exceptions. I would have been surprised that there were only three, but for CFJ’s recent analysis showing that red state Democrats typically side with the Senate’s most liberal members on the closely related issue of judicial confirmations.

and hit them HARD with this, and judicial nominations, from now until election day.

Johnson by Matthew Friendly

Yes, Johnson needs to go down. Someone like Gov. Rounds needs to run against him. He'd beat Johnson handily.

Pryor by Jix

Hitting Sen. Pryor on judges would be great. Too bad there is not a single Republican or Conservative running against him, so it is an exercise in futility.

How a red state democrat cannot get a challenge in a state that went overwhelmingly for Bush both times amazes me, and shows the lack of a two party system in Arkansas.
