String Theorist Discusses Judicial Nominations

I just find the following picture hysterically funny, but then I have a strange sense of humor. This is a picture of Princeton University superstring theorist Edward Witten joining a student "filibuster" of the GOP's effort to get up-or-down votes on judicial nominations.

I've got a modest physics background myself, and so it's with some amusement that I came across this photo. If I may be so bold as to say so, superstring theorists are the most baloney-filled type of physicist you can possibly imagine, in that they have not predicted a single physical phenomenon that can be confirmed or refuted by actual experiments. Why should this blog be confined to the merits of mere judicial nominations? Professor Witten is reading from a book by my old friend David Griffiths of Reed College in Oregon. Obviously, Professor Witten cannot find anything bad to say about any of the nominees!!! :-)
