Ramesh Ponnuru mentions at the Corner that there are not yet 50 firm votes for the constitutional option. However, Senator McConnell said today that he foresees "we will have the votes."
Ponnuru attributes the difficulty in rounding up the votes to various factors, such as recent remarks by Tom Delay about judges. Charles Krauthammer has an excellent column today criticizing Delay.
