The New Jersey Star-Ledger says newly appointed federal district judge Noel Hillman.

Hat tip to Howard Bashman.

Don't see why he can't get by the NJ donks - he did it once already. This may turn out to by typical of the type of nominee that can get confirmed over the next two years.

I agree with you - this will likely be the blueprint for future COA nominees (not necessarily all, but many). And there are many good conservatives already on the District Courts.

Why vet by Matthew Friendly

Why would they have to vet him?? He was just confirmed as a district court judge?

The White House probably wants a new vetting to make sure that no new news has occurred. The last thing they probably want is something nasty to show up for Leahy to use against them.

vetting levels by skippy1

I would assume too there are different levels of vetting. I sure would hope a SC nominee would be more thoroughly vetted than a district court judge nominee. And a COA nominee some place in-between.
