Why Judicial Nominations Matter: War on Terrorism Edition

NSA Wiretapping by DC Mac

In light of the revelation that some of would-be homicide bombers of UK to US flights made calls to the United States, this ruling is especially absurd, but I'm confident that judges of the Sixth Circuit will put Judge Taylor's ruling on ice in short order.

Although we tend to focus on COA judges on this site, clearly district judges can play havoc with the system, too. That's why every vacancy matters, and we need to fill all those slots so we don't get any more idiots like this judge on the bench. Sorry, Andrew, I know we don't like to call others idiots, but my alternative was definitely unprintable.

DC,

Glad to see you on the new site. How is the Brown Gerbil, your alter ego, doing these days? Say hi for me.

Judicial Misconduct by RochMarc

Seems that we've run into this particular judge on one of her previous adventures, specifically the manipulation of the assignment in respct of Grutter.

Carter's sorry legacy by Outsider

Twenty six years later we're still living with the stinking residue of Jimmy Carter's pathetically inept 4-year presidency. Not only an Iran run by Islamo-jihadists dedicated to our destruction, but also the surviving leftist swine he appointed to the federal judiciary. Reinhardt, Boyce Martin, Pregerson, and now this pathetic excuse for a District Judge (ACLU Taylor). These leftists have evolved from an embarrassing annoyance to a palpable danger to the safety and security of our nation. If the GOP retains Congress, the second order of business for the 110th Congress (after confirming all Bush nominees) should be to impeach and remove the Carter judges whose conduct I feel is virtual treason.

Justice Frankfurter's quip that Vinson's death was the strongest evidence he'd seen for the existence of God needs to be amended. It is actually that there was no Supreme Court vacancy during Carter's sorry single term.

Reality Check by Toneman

Even with this ruling, do folks think the NSA is about to stop its efforts to protect the homeland? I for one don't think so. This is a PR stunt by this Judge, who must know full-well that the 6th circuit is going to put the ruling and its preposterous 1st Amendment basis to shame.
